This crazy contraption created by Dr. Carsten Mehring is essentially a [carbon-fiber bicycle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bike-car-hybrid) that gives you the [illusion of flight](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-walkers). Instead of pedaling, you start by pushing off, and as it gains momentum, you place yourself into a horizontal gliding position as you cruise down the streets. Imagine how insanely fun riding the Streetflyer down a San Francisco street would be! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.9/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 70% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Sports](https://www.trendhunter.com/sports) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Illusion of Flight Transportation:** Developing transport vehicles that provide the experience of flying without the need for a pilot's license. - **Alternative Sports Equipment:** Creating sports equipment that is safer and more accessible while still providing the thrill and excitement of extreme sports. - **Carbon-fiber Innovation:** Investing in research and development for carbon-fiber materials to create unique and functional products. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Sports and Recreation:** The sports and recreation industry can benefit from introducing new alternative equipment such as the StreetFlyer to attract more users. - **Transportation:** The transportation industry can create more eco-friendly and exciting transportation options by exploring the application of gliding technology to bicycles and other road transportation vehicles. - **Materials Science:** Carbon-fiber innovation can be applied in various industries such as the automotive, aerospace, and even the fashion industry for more durable and lightweight products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Airborne Electric Motorcycle Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kuickwheel-skyrider-x6.md) - [Road-Legal Flying Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/switchblade-1.md) - [Wearable Electric Three-Wheelers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wearable-electric-threewheeler.md) - [Full-Tilt Steering Scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fourwheel-scooter.md) - [Futuristic Single-Seater Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/future-mobility-concept.md) - [Sleek Assistive Commuter Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pilot-bicycle.md) - [Handlebar-Toting Hydrofoil Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydrofoil-board.md) - [Four-Wheeled Hybrid Bike Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/karver-cyle-concept-k1.md) - [Lightweight Four-Wheeled Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/activcycle.md)
