# Playful Public Seating Street Swings Puts a Little Fun in Pedestrians' Daily Lives By Meghan Young | Published 2010-10-07 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/street-swings References: [omgshots](http://omgshots.com/416-street-swings-at-side-walks-time-to-play.html) & [dokument.org](http://www.dokument.org/) I wish I was in Stockholm, Sweden right now to enjoy these Street Swings. Or better yet, I hope someone decides to mimic artists Akay and Peter's [guerrilla project](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) and set some up around Toronto, Canada. Featured in their book 'Urban Recreation,' 65 Street Swings were fashioned out of cardboard and put on display. Encouraging a little playfulness in our everyday activities, these swings bring out the kids in us, while also sprucing up [boring sidewalks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/urban-furniture1). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.7/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Playful Urban Design:** Exploring ways to incorporate playfulness into urban environments through creative seating designs. - **Guerrilla Art Installations:** Utilizing temporary and unconventional art installations to transform public spaces and engage communities. - **Cardboard Engineering:** Experimenting with cardboard as a versatile and sustainable material for creating functional urban installations. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Urban Planning:** Opportunity for urban planners to integrate interactive and playful seating designs into public spaces. - **Art and Design:** Potential for artists and designers to create guerrilla art installations that inspire creativity and engagement in urban environments. - **Sustainable Materials:** Innovation in using cardboard as a sustainable material for urban furniture and installations, providing a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playground-Inspired Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/swing-seat.md) - [Dual-Function Play Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/birddy.md) - [Playful Public Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playful-public-seating.md) - [Sculptural Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-public-seating.md) - [Minimalist Outdoor Swings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-swing.md) - [Adaptive Public Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adp-bench.md) - [Muscle Loss-Combating Playground Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playground-bench.md) - [Kinetic Musical Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/musical-bench.md) - [Statement Street Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1.md)
