# Metronome-Inspired Streaming Devices 'Radio Activity' Lets Users Stream Their Music Based on Tempo By Cadhla Gray | Published 2015-08-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stream-music References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/3050356/a-metronome-inspired-interface-for-streaming-music-makes-finding-new-tunes-a-breeze?partner=rss) & [gemmaroper](http://www.gemmaroper.com/RADIO-ACTIVITY) 'Radio Activity' is a new device that allows users to stream music while filtering through all the 'noise' to find songs through an [interactive tactile experience](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sound-maestro). While streaming apps can be overwhelming in the sheer number of options they provide, Radio Activity allows users to filter through [Spotify's](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotify-home-thing) options based on a desired tempo. Creator Gemma Roper began this idea by differentiating between the sounds of each genre -- their beats specifically. For instance, reggae has about 75 beats per minute while dubstep has closer to 140. This research translated into the production of a metronome-like design, allowing the user to physically raise a dial to find music with a higher tempo and lower it for more relaxed beats. With more designs aiming to connect consumers with their products in tactile ways, this [screen-less device](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lab) provides such an experience. Users can stream music in a more personalized, direct way with this classic and elegant interface. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Tactile Streaming Devices:** The rise of tactile streaming devices allows for a more interactive user experience and opens up opportunities for new innovation in the audio streaming industry. - **Tempo-based Music Streaming:** Tempo-based music streaming is a trend that offers a new way of personalizing music listening and opens up opportunities for creating more targeted music playlists. - **Metronome-inspired Design:** Metronome-inspired design is a growing trend that allows for the creation of unique, minimalist products such as Radio Activity. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Audio Streaming:** The audio streaming industry can use the trend of tactile streaming devices and tempo-based music streaming to create more personalized and targeted streaming experiences for users. - **Product Design:** The trend of metronome-inspired designs offers opportunities for creating unique and minimalist products in various industries such as consumer electronics and home appliances. - **Music Curation:** Tempo-based music streaming provides opportunities for music curation services to create more customized playlists and personalized music recommendations for users. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retrofuturistic Streaming Audio Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-streaming-audio-player.md) - [Tactile Interactive Music Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yamaha.md) - [Circular Streaming Service Controllers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotify-home-thing.md) - [Music-Driven Pleasure Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/groove-thing.md) - [Nostalgic Radio Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/calming-noise-radio.md) - [Interactive Music Fitness Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-boxing-machine.md) - [Custom Running Soundtracks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beatstride.md) - [Focus-Forward Timers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meti-device.md) - [Mobile Music Analysis Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/music-analysis-device.md)
