# Life-Sized Sci-Fi Desserts The Stormtrooper Cake by Amanda Oakleaf Cakes is to Scale By Harris Jay Rosenberg Alterman | Published 2012-01-18 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stormtrooper-cake References: [blog.oakleafcakes](http://blog.oakleafcakes.com/stormtrooper-cake/) & [blog.oakleafcakes](http://blog.oakleafcakes.com) If you're planning on sitting down to watch a Star Wars movie marathon and you need something to snack on, try the delicious life-sized stormtrooper cake. This cake, designed by Amanda Oakleaf Cakes, stands 6 feet, 4 inches tall and took two weeks of work to create. The giant treat weighs over 300 pounds and looks incredibly realistic. The Arisia Sci-Fi Convention in Boston was fortunate enough to chow down on this [clone cake](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pillsbury-doughboy-installation) as it was fed to over 300 people. This stormtrooper cake would have also been an awesome tool for slowing down Han solo and Luke Skywalker, assuming they couldn't resist stopping to have a bite -- and who could? If Darth Vader had used sugar and flour instead of clones, the Star Wars series would have ended much differently. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 94% | Activity: 89% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Life-sized Desserts:** Opportunity for creating life-sized desserts that are both visually striking and delicious. - **Sci-fi Cakes:** Opportunity to design and create cakes themed around popular science fiction films. - **Realistic Food Sculptures:** Opportunity to create realistic food sculptures that resemble everyday objects. ### Where This Applies - **Bakery:** Innovative cakes and desserts can be introduced in bakeries, attracting customers with unique offerings. - **Event Planning:** Event planners can incorporate these life-sized desserts as showpieces in their events, creating memorable experiences for attendees. - **Catering:** Catering companies can offer eye-catching life-sized desserts as a unique option for special events and parties. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi-Themed Donut Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinkbox-doughnuts-star-wars-day.md) - [Sci-Fi Large-Scale Block Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ucs-death-star.md) - [Galactic Cafe Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Star-wars-themed-cafe.md) - [Holiday Collector’s Puzzle](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gingerbread-atat.md) - [Chrome-Colored Action Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-toys-1.md) - [Highly Detailed Sci-Fi Costumes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stormtrooper-kit.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Cruiser Puzzle Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/venator-attack.md) - [Supersized Celebration Cupcakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crumbs-colossal-cupcake.md) - [Playful Space-Themed Desserts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacethemed-dessert.md)
