# Sprawling Boat Ports The Storm Bay Dock Stores Boats in an Opulent Manner By Jordy E | Published 2013-04-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storm-bay-dock References: [gizmodo](http://gizmodo.com/5994281/with-a-dock-this-awesome-who-needs-a-house) & [architizer](http://www.architizer.com/en_us/blog/dyn/81356/boat-port-awards/) This [Storm Bay](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/storm-king) dock stores boats in an exceptionally lavish manner. The 3,000 square foot space was originally supposed to come with a house, although the structure comes across much like a high end abode all on its own. Present within this Storm Bay edifice is an aluminum boardwalk and a [dock that floats on the water](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-neighborhood). Adequate amounts of room are made available for two boats. This is furthermore complimented by a 25 foot-wide screen that rolls up on command, offering up sprawling views of the water. When paired with a large overhead room, the dock can act much like a [getaway home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muskoka-lakeside-cottage), one that is like many akin locations surrounded by greenery and natural landscapes. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Luxury Boat Storage:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop an upscale boat storage facility that offers opulent amenities and a high-end experience for boat owners. - **Smart Docking Systems:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a dock with advanced technology that automatically adjusts to water levels and optimizes boat storage and accessibility. - **Floating Waterfront Properties:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design and build floating properties that combine luxury accommodation with boat storage, offering a unique waterfront living experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Marina and Boat Storage:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Transform traditional marinas into luxury destinations that provide high-end boat storage facilities and upscale amenities for boat owners. - **Smart Home Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop smart home systems and devices specifically tailored for use in boat docks and waterfront properties, enhancing convenience and functionality. - **Real Estate and Property Development:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the market potential for floating properties that offer combined boat storage and luxury accommodation, catering to high-end buyers looking for unique waterfront living experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sleek Compact Floating Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blatto-boat.md) - [Two-Storey Contemporary Houseboats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/garde-hvalse.md) - [Boat Design-Inspired Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/three-mile-harbor.md) - [Docked Ship-Inspired Tea Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/billy-otea.md) - [Modern Floating Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pura-vida-floating-home.md) - [Submarine-Storing Superyachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/submarine-storing-luxury-yacht.md) - [Solar-Powered Compact Houseboats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fng-sng.md) - [Floating Bar-Style Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bote-inflatable-dock-hangout-classic.md) - [Ultra-Luxurious Custom-Built Yachts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/custombuilt-yacht.md)
