To make the most of a cramped New York apartment space, the architects made use of 24' of vertical space, dividing the apartment up horizontally for a number of different functions. On the bottom of the unit is space for a large corner couch, as well as a number of other furniture pieces that fold out from behind walls and staircases. On top of it all, there's even a green roof garden when you need a little fresh air. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 69% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Vertical Living:** Designing homes with vertical space in mind to maximize functionality and convenience. - **Smart Storage Solutions:** Innovative solutions for optimizing the use of limited living space. - **Multi-functional Furniture:** Furniture pieces that can be transformed and repositioned to serve multiple functions in a small space. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Real Estate:** Real estate companies can provide innovative vertical living spaces to cater to the growing demand for space-efficient homes. - **Furniture:** Furniture companies can create smart, multi-functional pieces that cater to small-space living without compromising on style and comfort. - **Architecture:** Architects can explore and incorporate smart space-saving solutions in building designs to cater to the space and cost constraints of their clients. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smartly Designed Compact Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/compact-apartments2.md) - [Cleverly Designed Micro Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabanon.md) - [Renovated Compact Loft Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vessel-project.md) - [Thoughtful Micro Studio Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-studio-apartment.md) - [Reinvented Compact Living](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/affordable-housing-prototype.md) - [Reimagined Minimal Parisian Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimalist-cocoon.md) - [Contemporary Spacious Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crossfold-loft.md) - [Remodelled Denim-Detailed Modern Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/microloft.md) - [Compact Urban Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miami-tiny-house.md)
