# Arboreal-Inspired Homes This Stone Residence is Designed to Capture the Essence of a Tree House By Vasiliki Marapas | Published 2014-12-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stone-residence References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/12/16/hampstead-home-stanton-williams-timber-stone-london-england-tree-house/) & [stantonwilliams](http://www.stantonwilliams.com/) London firm Stanton Williams designed the 'Fitzroy House,' a three-storey timber and stone residence intended to evoke "the spirit of a tree house." The home replaces the 1950s residence that formerly occupied the leafy plot in north London. If you're an adult, chances are you've abandoned your once-vivid dream of living in a tree house. However, this design keeps the childhood ambition alive and well by capturing the true essence of a tree house. The home was sunken into the sloping site, allowing the middle level to connect with the [stone bridge](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/91-cedar-house) that leads into the home. Floor-to-ceiling glazing surrounds the house, allowing natural light to permeate the interior. The glazing is bordered with grey timber paneling, Iroko wood balconies and wedges of limestone. However, the cool, texturized exterior gives way to a warm, rich interior, complete with oak ceilings and [limestone floors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/field-house). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 60% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Integration of Nature:** Using natural elements in modern designs that connect inhabitants to nature and improve well-being. - **Sustainable Architecture:** Incorporating eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices into architectural designs. - **Playful Design:** Designing spaces that allow for playfulness and imagination, regardless of age. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Architecture:** Developing residential and commercial spaces that incorporate natural elements and sustainable practices for a more well-rounded and aesthetically-pleasing experience. - **Real Estate:** Developing properties that emphasize a connection to the outdoors and the use of eco-friendly materials to appeal to environmentally-conscious buyers and renters. - **Hospitality:** Implementing designs that create a playful and imaginative experience for guests, while also incorporating sustainable and eco-friendly features for a more socially-responsible reputation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tree-Surrounding Mass-Timber Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tree-courtyard-house.md) - [Residential Timber Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arbour-house.md) - [Tranquil A‑Frame Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steel-a-frame.md) - [Vaulted Structural Telescopic Treehouse](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/artistree-home.md) - [Landscape-Integrated Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-by-the-grove.md) - [Nature-Merging Geometric Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neville-park-residence.md) - [Timber-Framed Brick Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/erbar-mattes.md) - [Olive Tree-Centric Wooden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twentieth-house.md) - [Nature-Immersive Tranquil Resorts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/treehouse-villas.md)
