# Podlike Literature Buildings Stockholm Public Library is All About Infinite Space By Katherinev123 | Published 2011-08-22 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stockholm-public-library References: [evolo.us](http://www.evolo.us/architecture/the-infinite-space-stockholm-public-library-bundi-pradono-architects/) & [budipradono](http://budipradono.com/) The [Stockholm Public Library](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragments) design by Budi Pradono Architects will definitely appeal to book-lovers. With special curved reading pods and a design meant to "stimulate knowledge exchange among the library's varied collections," it really doesn't get any better than this. An architectural masterpiece, the Stockholm Public Library is comprised of [two main transparent columns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pkinception), topped off with one gigantic suspended slab. The columns are where the public spaces are located; this includes the auditorium, a restaurant, a news room and reading areas. The slab above consists of two main levels that comprise the main book collections. These top floors also feature [special reading pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-nooks) that extend from -- and dip below -- the floor. Made to be a public venue as well as a research building, the Stockholm Public library definitely puts an innovative and modern spin on traditional literary structures. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.7/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Curved Reading Pods:** The use of curved reading pods in library design creates a unique and inviting reading experience for visitors, spurring new opportunities for furniture and decor innovation. - **Transparent Architecture:** Transparent architecture design in public buildings can create a more open and inviting environment for visitors, opening up opportunities for new materials and technology integration. - **Innovative Public Libraries:** Innovative public libraries, like the Stockholm Public Library, are breaking traditional design molds and paving the way for sustainable and community-focused architecture and technology integration. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture and Decor:** The use of curved reading pods in library design creates a unique and inviting reading experience for visitors, spurring new opportunities for furniture and decor innovation. - **Architecture and Design:** Transparent architecture design in public buildings can create a more open and inviting environment for visitors, opening up opportunities for new materials and technology integration. - **Library and Education:** Innovative public libraries, like the Stockholm Public Library, are breaking traditional design molds and paving the way for sustainable and community-focused architecture and technology integration. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wood-Wrapped Contemporary Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/graded-school-library.md) - [Mobile Glass Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-libreria.md) - [Open-Air Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ikea-billyotheque.md) - [Tree-Like Library Spaces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-of-knowledge.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Library Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yellamundie.md) - [Temporary Translucent Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/la-liberia.md) - [Floating Wetland Bookstore](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xixi-goldmye-bookstore.md) - [Juxtaposing Angular Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brixen-public-library.md) - [Children's Story-Inspired Libraries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/western-academy.md)
