# Abstract Cartoon Character Lighting The Stewie Lamp by Foscarini is Inspired by 'Family Guy' By Meghan Young | Published 2013-04-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stewie-lamp References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1672249/a-lamp-inspired-by-stewie-from-family-guy-why-not) & [foscarini](http://www.foscarini.com/) Everyone's favorite 'Family Guy' character has been turned into a [light fixture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toto): The Stewie Lamp. Although this can be excused as a 'take over the world' experiment gone wrong, it wasn't created for the show, simply inspired by it. As a person can see, if it were, the Stewie Lamp wouldn't be so abstract and chic-looking. Designed by Luca Nichetti for [Foscarini](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foscarini-1), the Stewie Lamp has a friendly shape, one that may not exactly be in line with the character's vindictive personality. Nevertheless, the squarish body and thin legs is reminiscent of Stewie's build. Nichetti observes, "It almost becomes a little person." The Stewie Lamp is made out of heat-shaped polyethylene, which is [pliable to the touch](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-lamp), which gives it an add sense of comfort. It is finished with a prismatic fabric cover that diffuses the light. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 8% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Abstract Lighting:** The trend of abstract lighting fixtures is creating opportunities for unique and artistic designs in the lighting industry. - **Character-inspired Products:** The trend of creating products inspired by popular characters is opening up possibilities for creative collaborations between brands and entertainment franchises. - **Pliable Materials:** The trend of using pliable materials in product design offers innovative solutions for comfort and user-friendly experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting:** The lighting industry can explore the disruptive innovation potential by creating abstract lighting fixtures that combine artistry and functionality. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can leverage character-inspired products to engage fans and create unique merchandise opportunities. - **Product Design:** The use of pliable materials in product design provides opportunities for creating innovative and user-friendly products across various industries. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Character-Like Wireless Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/puddy-table-lamp.md) - [Retro-Tinged Compact Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lari-mini.md) - [Creature-Like Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pink-robots-won.md) - [Pasta-Inspired Curvaceous Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neotenic-lamp.md) - [Adorable Cartoon Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightweight-and-adorable.md) - [Bold Playful Lighting Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/little-lebow-table-lamp.md) - [Cartoon Dog-Inspired Whimsical Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snoopy-lamp.md) - [Playful Table Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toto-lamp.md) - [Playful Brick-Born Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analog-lamps-1.md)
