His 'Poor Little Trees' series features some pretty depressing [tree carvings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-sculptures-1). Buzzkill alert for all you people having a good day. Most of the trees in Steven Burke's 'Poor Little Trees' are sad. You can spot a smile or two, but it is hard to see amongst all the frowns. I can't tell if this is meant to be a statement about the [logging industry and deforestation](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/abney-effect), or just a [fun art project](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1). Either way, Steven Burke sure has made some interesting art here. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 48% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Depressed Tree Art:** Artists exploring the theme of sadness in their tree artwork - **Emotional Sculptures:** Artists creating sculptures that evoke specific emotions in viewers - **Environmental Messaging:** Artists using their work to raise awareness about deforestation and its impact on nature ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art and Sculpture:** Opportunity for artists to create unique and thought-provoking sculptures - **Environmental Activism:** Opportunity for organizations and individuals to raise awareness about deforestation - **Interior Decor:** Opportunity for incorporating emotionally impactful art pieces into interior design ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playable Oak Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/funeral-for-a-tree.md) - [Tree Branch-Formed Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/celestial-attraction.md) - [Repurposed Wooden Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/darren-appiagyei.md) - [Felled Tree Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ptacek-home-chunk-line.md) - [Artful Wooden Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knowledge-of-all-dark-things.md) - [Monolithic Furniture Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/conversation-with-trees.md) - [Nature-Inspired Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humannature-1.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Pixelated Photographed Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/southern-trees.md)
