For the 2010 Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival, Toronto photographer Steve Carty collaborates with [graffiti artist](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigmatic-graffiti) Skam in the series 'Lightworkers.'

Skam puts aside his typical can of spray paint and picks up a flashlight for 'Lightworkers.' Reworking the illegal aspect of [street graffiti](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/surreal-street-art-1) as a form of vandalism, the graffiti created in Carty’s current work exists only in a single frame of the photograph.

The video shows Steve Carty photographing Skam's [light painting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shapes-of-light) and fittingly features Common’s song 'The Light.'
