Instead of artfully putting together random mix of interesting images on one canvas, he focuses quite single-mindedly on [foliage and household pets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-tree-house-2). Either Stephen Eichhorn creates artworks that just have an abstract floral theme, or he incorporates cats and dogs for a more quirky flavor. Based in Chicago, Illinois, Stephen Eichhorn meticulously cuts up printed versions of [leaves, flowers and other foliage](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forest-for-the-trees) in order to rearrange them into beautiful patterns and other arrangements. He mainly uses images from vintage how-to plant care books. Described as a "[compulsive houseplant waterer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trader-joes-mini-can-foliage) and rearranger," by The Plant Journal, it is no surprise that Stephen Eichhorn has taken up such a specific artform to tirelessly work away at. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 8% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Floral Collage Art:** There is an opportunity for artists to create unique floral collages using vintage images of foliage. - **Quirky Pet-themed Art:** Artists can explore the combination of pets and art to create quirky and playful collages. - **Vintage Image Repurposing:** Repurposing vintage plant care book images for collage art opens up possibilities for creative arrangements. ### Where This Applies - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can incorporate the trend of floral collage art and pet-themed art in their creations. - **Print and Publishing:** Publishers and printers can tap into the demand for vintage image repurposing by providing quality prints for artists and designers. - **Home Decor and Giftware:** The trend of floral collage art and quirky pet-themed art presents opportunities for home decor and giftware companies to offer unique and eye-catching products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Pet-Catered Sleek Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/papuk.md) - [Graphic Patterned Artful Homeware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cut-paste.md) - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Contemporary Cat Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/connect-collection.md) - [Plant-Friendly Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jcp-universe-coloniae.md) - [Sculptural Paper Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti.md) - [Stone Offcut Decor Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/salvatori-precioso.md) - [Compact Canned Houseplants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trader-joes-mini-can-foliage.md)
