The Steel Wood Table looks at first to be a fairly simple sort furnishing, but its thoughtful minimalistic and clever composition makes it a befitting couch companion. Four pieces of beautifully soft [solid cherry wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lichen-1) make up the open cubby which acts as a tabletop and a short storage compartment below. The upper surface is ideal for the placement of lamps, mugs, clocks and other knickknacks white the shallow shelf provides the perfect place to [flat stack novels, newspapers and magazines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/penguin-x-moebe-book-stand). To complement the subtle color and texture of the timber box, Thom Fougere placed his Steel Wood Table atop a set of splayed powder-coated steel legs. As a whole, the piece adopts a charming simplicity and a crisp contemporary craftsmanship. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 18% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Minimalistic Furniture:** Designing furniture with a minimalist approach allows for versatile functionality and a sleek aesthetic. - **Multifunctional Design:** Creating furniture that serves multiple purposes and provides additional storage options opens up innovative possibilities for space-saving solutions. - **Contemporary Craftsmanship:** Incorporating modern materials and techniques into furniture design results in visually striking pieces that blend seamlessly with modern interiors. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** The furniture manufacturing industry can capitalize on the trend of minimalistic furniture by producing sleek and functional pieces that cater to modern design preferences. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can leverage the trend of multifunctional design to create innovative and space-saving solutions for their clients, enhancing both aesthetic appeal and functionality. - **Woodworking:** Woodworking businesses can explore the trend of contemporary craftsmanship by incorporating modern materials and techniques to create unique and visually appealing wooden furniture pieces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Slender Geometric Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table.md) - [Industrial Floating Bedside Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tu-bedside-table.md) - [Asymmetrical Storage Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crossbred-side-table.md) - [Wall-Mounted Two-Legged Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instable-side-table.md) - [Stacked Wood Dining Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plane-dining-table.md) - [Bookcase-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/low-wall-side-table.md) - [Impactful Industrial Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/to-steel-side-table.md) - [Minimalist Book Storage Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocket-coffee-table.md) - [Metal Sheet Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twist-side-table.md)
