# Non-Traditional Wedding Eats The Steampunk Wedding Cake Looks Too Good to Eat By Robyn Currie | Published 2010-01-10 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steampunk-wedding-cake References: [steampunkworkshop](http://steampunkworkshop.com/corsets-and-cogs-steampunk-wedding-cake) & [boingboing.net](http://www.boingboing.net/2010/01/09/steampunk-wedding-ca.html) As I mature in age I find myself contemplating what and where I want to be in a few years. And evidently marriage could potentially be a part of that. Thankfully weddings are getting cooler, especially when something like this steampunk wedding cake is involved. The one-of-a-kind confection features bronze and gold coloring to replicate metal, and the back simulates the lace-up that a corset would have. I don’t know whether I want to eat or try to wear the steampunk wedding cake. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 35% | Activity: 69% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Food](https://www.trendhunter.com/food) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Steampunk-inspired Wedding Cakes:** Opportunity for innovative bakers to create unique and visually striking wedding cakes with a steampunk theme. - **Metallic Wedding Cake Designs:** Potential for cake designers to experiment with bronze and gold coloring to create eye-catching metallic wedding cakes. - **Edible Fashion-inspired Wedding Cakes:** Emerging trend of wedding cakes designed to resemble fashion items, offering an opportunity for creative cake designers to bring high-fashion elements to the dessert table. ### Where This Applies - **Bakery Industry:** Bakers can capitalize on the demand for non-traditional wedding cakes by incorporating steampunk-inspired designs and metallic accents into their cake creations. - **Wedding Industry:** Wedding planners and vendors can tap into the growing trend of non-traditional wedding eats by offering unique and visually appealing steampunk wedding cakes as an option to couples. - **Fashion and Design Industry:** Fashion and design enthusiasts can explore the intersection of food and fashion by collaborating with cake designers to create edible fashion-inspired wedding cake designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cheese Wheel Wedding Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowshill-cheese-wedding-cake.md) - [Lobster Roll Wedding Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lobster-roll-wedding-cakes.md) - [Wedding Pizza Promotions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pizza-hut-6.md) - [Non-Traditional Wedding Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ssense-bridal-20.md) - [Forward-Thinking Wedding Pop-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anthropologie-weddings-x-pinterest.md) - [Cardboard-Resembling Illusion Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-cake.md) - [Mobile Weenie Wedding Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobile-wedding-chapel.md) - [Steampunk Aesthetic Espresso Makers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steampunk-espresso-machine.md) - [Balloon Dog Cakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-dog-cake.md)
