# Retro Steampunk Phonograph Docks This Steampunk Phone Dock is Inspired by Old-Timey Sound Systems By Eric Westcott | Published 2014-04-02 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steampunk-phone-docks References: [steampunkwayoflife.blogspot.au](http://steampunkwayoflife.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/iphonograph-chrome-is-finally-finished.html) With the invention of the phonograph, listening to music was brought to your living room and this steampunk phone dock takes that look to create a funky design. Skipping passed the [boring speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eko-system) that are in any old docking station, this steampunk phone dock has a [stylish flared bell horn](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/d32) to pump the tunes out. The slim design of the base with the colorful tubes looks like it has been plucked off the set of a sci-fi set. The cross between the phonograph and tubes actually fits right in with the 'TARDIS' of the 'Doctor Who' television series, as the 'TARDIS' has in the past had a very steampunk feel to its interior that looks like it was put together with scrap parts found around a junk yard. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.3/10 - Popularity: 47% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Steampunk Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop new products with a steampunk aesthetic to appeal to retro-futuristic enthusiasts. - **Sci-fi-inspired Electronics:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate elements of science fiction into electronic devices to create visually striking and unique designs. - **Retro-inspired Audio Equipment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Combine vintage aesthetics with modern audio technology to create distinctive and nostalgic audio equipment. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Consumer Electronics:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate steampunk and sci-fi design elements into consumer electronic devices for a niche market. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create retro-inspired home decor items, such as phonograph docks, to cater to consumers seeking unique and nostalgic design pieces. - **Entertainment:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the potential of steampunk-inspired designs in entertainment products and set designs to captivate audiences with a retro-futuristic aesthetic. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retrofuturistic Streaming Audio Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/diy-streaming-audio-player.md) - [Retro Smartphone Music Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smartphone-music-player.md) - [Steampunk Desktop Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3in1-desk.md) - [Nautilus Shell Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steampunk-nautilus.md) - [Stylish Low-Tech Sound Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frame-sound.md) - [Transparent Gramophone-Like Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mini-speaker-concept.md) - [Modernized Minimalist Gramophones](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fennessy-donut-i5.md) - [Freestanding Smartphone Dock Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jteman-phone-stand-and-speaker.md) - [Tech-Infused Analog Radios](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/retro-aesthetics-and-modern-technology.md)
