The unit is crafted with a decidedly industrial exterior case that's made out of e-waste to give components that might otherwise be headed to the landfill with a new purpose. The unit is devoid from controls and displays with only the computer and a battery inside with the user needing to utilize AR glasses from [Xreal](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/asus-rog-xreal-r1) or [Rokid](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rokid) to access its functionality. The Steam Deck Motherboard Case concept is also designed with a large ring in the upper section of one corner that further reinforces its ability to be carried around and even attached to a keychain. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 7.8/10 - Popularity: 98% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 36% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Screen-free Gaming Systems:** Screen-free gaming systems present a novel approach by leveraging augmented reality instead of traditional displays, leading to more immersive and customizable gaming experiences. - **E-waste Upcycling:** The concept of e-waste upcycling for electronic devices showcases an innovative approach to sustainability by repurposing discarded materials into functional technology. - **Portable Keychain Devices:** Portable keychain devices are gaining traction as compact and convenient solutions that blend functionality with everyday accessories. ### Where This Applies - **Augmented Reality:** The augmented reality industry stands to benefit from innovations in integrating AR technologies with gaming systems that eliminate traditional screens. - **Sustainable Electronics:** Sustainable electronics is an emerging sector focused on reducing e-waste by innovating with recycled materials and sustainable manufacturing practices. - **Mobile Gaming:** The mobile gaming industry is poised for disruption with the integration of portable, screen-free gaming systems that enhance user experience through minimalist design. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Next-Gen Mobile Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/steam-deck-2-concept.md) - [Industrial Handheld Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pocketman-p1.md) - [All-in-One Handheld PC Cases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/project-killswitch.md) - [Embedded Monitor Gaming Computers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaming-box-design-concept.md) - [Transparent Handheld PCs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clear-steam-deck.md) - [Tactile Modular Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumi-dreamstation02.md) - [Ultra-Compact Gamer Console Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiny-gaming-console.md) - [Smartphone-Like Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/xbox-series-a.md) - [Customizable Mobile Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handheld-gaming-console-concept.md)
