London-based startup Batch.works uses new technology to produce a futuristic stationery line that is sustainable and biodegradable. The company creates pen cups, paperclips, ballpoint pens and the like for the 'Conscious Living' collection by international label Paperchase.

Actually, the technique that Batch.works used to produce the stationery line is quite interesting and is another example of how contemporary technology can be used to facilitate more [mindful production practices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/by-osmosis). The developers used bioplastic which was derived from sugar cane to reach the desired outcome.

The total pieces that were produced as part of Batch.works' [sustainable stationery line](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lumon) range to about 30,000. Design Milk specifies that each pen took approximately 20 minutes to make and each paperclip about two minutes.
