The Starlink [V5](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mechanical-switches) satellite Internet dish was formally announced as the brand's latest piece of connectivity hardware that tackles a number of design elements over the previous [V4](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aigenerated-music) model.

The satellite dish is engineered as smaller, more lightweight and far more power-efficient than the V4 to work well for supporting DIY installation amongst residential customers. The unit weighs in at 2.4-pounds to make it more than four-pounds lighter than the V4, while also consuming 35 to 50W of power over the previous model's 75 to 100W rating. This likens the dish to the brand's [Starlink Mini](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starlink-mini1) and comes bundled with the Router Mini alongside a pipe adapter for roof installation.

The Starlink V5 satellite Internet dish is currently being offered under the Starlink Residential plan and responds to the interest in satellite Internet amongst consumers in rural or underserved areas.
