With a [Starbucks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starbucks-and-doordash) mobile payment app on hand, it's extremely easy to order coffee. However, Starbucks' Chief Digital Officer Adam Brotman indicates that there may be more things you can buy in the future with the app that are totally unrelated to anything you'd find in a coffee shop.

With mobiles becoming the central hub from which to order everything from taxis to takeout, Starbucks may be exploring the use of its app to make payments at other retail locations, just as you are already able to do with services like [GrubHub](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grubhub-multistore-ordering), Tapingo and [Square](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mobile-payment-terminal), which would turn Starbucks' app into something more like a universal wallet. Although there are plans to implement this technology nationwide, don't expect this service to be rolling out anytime soon. In an interview with Re/code, Brotman noted that "We will do this and we will get it right."
