# Exclusive Film-Commemorating Banknotes This Unique 'Star Wars' Money Was Auctioned Off on eBay By Riley von Niessen | Published 2018-01-08 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-money References: [luxurylaunches](http://luxurylaunches.com/other_stuff/limited-edition-star-wars-money-best-christmas-gift-star-wars-fan.php) & [delarue](http://www.delarue.com/) With 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' making its debut just a short while ago, many fans of the franchise eagerly took to the Internet to score some of the merchandise, collectibles, and other exclusive items that coincided with its release, including the Star Wars money that was printed by De La Rue. As the British banknote manufacturer isn't considered a legal tender, the Star Wars money can't be used as an actual form of currency, despite how legitimate each banknote looks. Rather than featuring the portraits of historical icons and political figures, the banknotes boast characters from the film on them instead. In order to reflect the themes that are presented in the film, the banknotes have both a "light and a dark side." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 42% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Exclusive Film-commemorating Banknotes:** Opportunity to create exclusive commemorative banknotes for popular movies and franchises. - **Collectible Merchandise:** Growing demand for exclusive collectible items related to popular movie releases. - **Licensed Currency:** Potential for creating licensed and themed currencies for promotional purposes. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Banknote Manufacturing:** Innovative banknote designs and printing technologies for commemorative and collectible currencies. - **Entertainment Merchandising:** Creating and marketing exclusive collectible merchandise tied to movie franchises. - **Promotional Products:** Opportunities to develop and produce licensed currencies for promotional campaigns and events. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Classical Posters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sen-donnan.md) - [Sci-Fi Franchise-Inspired Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-collection-2.md) - [Fictional Wizard Collectible Coins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/harry-potter-collection-1.md) - [Exclusive Wizard-Themed Coins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wizardthemed-coin-collection.md) - [Collaboration Sci-Fi Cookies](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-oreo-cookies.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volkswagen-2.md) - [Wizard-Inspired Coin Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-royal-mint.md) - [Dark Sci-Fi Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/darc-sport.md) - [Sci-Fi Bath Soaps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-bath-soap.md)
