# Sci-Fi Toy Car Collections The Star Wars Hot Wheels Set Boasts Loop-Ready X-Wings By Michael Hines | Published 2014-07-28 | Life-Stages Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-hot-wheels References: [carbuzz](http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2014/7/22/Star-Wars-and-Hot-Wheels-Go-Great-Together-7721591/) & [starwars](http://www.starwars.com/) Don't blame the Internet if it breaks over the revealing of the Star Wars Hot Wheels collection. This collaboration is essentially a new type of Star Wars toy, one that can hopefully run on a plastic track with a loop. The Star Wars Hot Wheels collection will make its debut at the 2014 San Diego International Comic-Con. There you'll be able to get your hands on Yoda, Chewbacca and R2-D2 cars, among many others. What's more, there will also be a life-sized "Darthcar," which is actually a Corvette hidden under a body kit that's certainly from the dark side. If you aren't going to Comic-Con and don't feel like dropping big bucks on toy cars you can check out the Star Wars Hot Wheels here. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.8/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 43% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Life-Stages](https://www.trendhunter.com/life-stages) > [Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/toys) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sci-fi Toy Car Collections:** Opportunity for merging beloved sci-fi franchises with toy car collections. - **Hot Wheels Collaboration:** Opportunity for Hot Wheels to collaborate with popular franchises to create unique toy car sets. - **Comic-con Exclusive Releases:** Opportunity to create exclusive toy car collections for comic conventions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Toy Manufacturing:** Opportunity for toy manufacturers to explore collaborations with popular entertainment franchises. - **Collectibles Market:** Opportunity to cater to the demand for collectible sci-fi toy car sets. - **Convention Merchandise:** Opportunity for merchandise companies to create exclusive collectibles for comic conventions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernized Superhero RC Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-wheels-rc-original-edition-batmobile.md) - [Decayed Car Playsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hot-wheels-x-daniel-arsham.md) - [Sci-Fi Spacecraft LEGO Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scifi-spacecraft-lego-set.md) - [Collaboration Retailer Toy Ranges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/7eleven-x-hot-wheels-collection.md) - [Sci-Fi Series-Themed Figures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hasbro-3.md) - [Celebratory Sci-Fi Toy Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-star-wars-25th-anniversary.md) - [Dark Sci-Fi Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/darc-sport.md) - [Ride Attraction Play Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starspeeder-3000.md) - [Toy-Inspired Sportscar Apparel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wrangler-x-hot-wheels.md)
