# Sci-Fi Flying Surfaces The Star Trek Table Lets You Live Long and Prosper By Harris Jay Rosenberg Alterman | Published 2012-01-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-table References: [etsy](http://www.etsy.com/listing/90158693/star-trek-enterprise-ncc-1701-c-coffee) To give your living room a touch of outer space, place the Star Trek table in front of your fire place and nerds will swarm to your house. This table is designed to look the like the majestic Star Trek Enterprise as it achieves [warp speed](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magellan-automatic-star-trek-warp-speed) and races through the vast depths of the universe. The [small coffee table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables) is cut from ash, poplar and cherry wood, so you know it's good and will hold up when battling other starship tables. In some of the unseen security camera footage of the Star Trek Enterprise, the break room on the starship has this table in it and every now again one can see Captain Kirk waddle in and put his feet up on the glass. The Star Trek table can be yours for only $3,100, which is a steal for a table that goes faster than the speed of light. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Science Fiction-inspired Furniture:** The trend for furniture inspired by science fiction creates opportunities for designers to innovate and create new products for the market. - **Nerd Culture-inspired Decor:** The trend for nerd culture-inspired decor provides opportunities for businesses to tap into the lucrative market of niche consumers who are passionate about science fiction and other similar genres. - **Replicas of Iconic Objects:** The trend for creating replicas of iconic objects like the Star Trek table provides opportunities for businesses to engage with fans and consumers who are interested in owning a piece of pop culture history. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can capitalize on the demand for science fiction-inspired pieces and create unique designs that cater to a specific niche market. - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can leverage the growing popularity of nerd culture and offer consumers a wide range of products that cater to their interests and preferences. - **Collectibles:** Businesses that specialize in collectibles can create replicas of iconic objects from science fiction and other pop culture genres to cater to collectors who are passionate about owning exclusive and unique items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Aircraft Door Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-exit-door-table.md) - [Millennium Falcon Trays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-wars-tray.md) - [Sci-Fi-Themed Virtual Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roddenberry-archive.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Yacht Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-inspired-yacht.md) - [Sci-Fi Media Playsets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buildabridge-mini-bridge.md) - [Board Game Furniture Innovations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bandpass-design.md) - [Replica Sci-Fi Toy Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playmobil-star-trek-klingon-bird-of-prey.md) - [Dynamic Interaction Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enigmasurface.md) - [Intergalactic-Themed Furnishings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solar-sailor.md)
