# Parodic Sci-Fi Slow Songs This Star Trek Slow Jam Shows a Sensual Spock’s Smooth Moves By | Published 2013-06-08 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-slow References: [laughingsquid](http://laughingsquid.com/star-trek-slow-jam-by-the-key-of-awesome/) [YouTube](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sonic-the-hedgehog-2) comedy troupe Key of Awesome has released another hilarious video: Star Trek Slow Jam. The video depicts a romance-deprived Spock as he puts the moves on another woman. Since Spock is known for his monotone voice and scientific way of phrasing things, his sensual moves come off as robotic and awkward, making for a hilarious video. The music video also parodies slow jams with their cheesy saxophone solos and smooth velvety way of speaking. Spock’s unemotional voice contrasts the cheesy romantic feel of the music, a juxtaposition that creates a hugely comedic feel. The video does prove that Spock sets up one great date. He gives robotic back massages, beams champagne down to his coordinates and even gives his woman “earth potion” that will make her feel great. As romantic as Spock may be, this video also shows that Spock may sing long but he won’t prosper. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 13% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Parodic Slow Jam Videos:** Comedy troupes can create funny slow jam videos by parodying popular movies and TV shows, providing entertainment and humor for audiences. - **Juxtaposition in Music Videos:** Making music videos that combine contrasting elements, like serious or monotone voices with romantic, cheesy music, can create a comedic or unexpected effect and engage viewers. - **Romanticized Characters for Comedy:** Creating parodies of romantically inclined, serious or robotic characters from pop culture can provide comedic opportunities and build a following among fans of those characters. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Comedy Troupes and Video Production:** Comedy troupes and video production companies can create parodic music videos or other humorous content for viral marketing, social media campaigns or YouTube monetization channels. - **Music and Entertainment:** The music and entertainment industries can partner with social media influencers or comedians to create parody or mashup videos featuring popular properties and draw engagement from fans. - **Fan Merchandise and Collectibles:** Manufacturers and merchandisers can use fan memes, parodies and humorous reinterpretations of popular characters or franchises to create novelty merchandise, collectibles or limited edition items tailored to niche communities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sci-Fi-Themed Virtual Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roddenberry-archive.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Whiskey Expressions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-spirits.md) - [Starship-Inspired Dynamic Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/magellan-automatic-star-trek-warp-speed.md) - [Sci-Fi Film-Themed Dart Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starfleet-phaser-blaster.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Yacht Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-inspired-yacht.md) - [Sci-Fi-Inspired Storage Drives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-trek-discovery-flash-drives.md) - [Personalized Video Cards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/video-cards.md) - [Replica Sci-Fi Toy Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/playmobil-star-trek-klingon-bird-of-prey.md) - [Spoof Sci-Fi Beer Ads](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-death-x-rebel-moon.md)
