# Elegant Teardrop Illuminators Stalasso Pendant Lamp Draws All Sides of the Room Down to One Point By Amelia Roblin | Published 2013-03-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stalasso-pendant-lamp References: [joericlaeys](http://www.joericlaeys.com/) In the way that a stalactite tapers down from the roof of a cave, the Stalasso Pendant Lamp dangles from the ceiling with its exquisite tipped base. It hangs from a slender metallic cable that welds in with the flaring, high-gloss top half. The piece becomes transparent towards the bottom like an expanding drop of water that's just seconds from falling to the floor. Joeri Claeys's light fixture doubles as an enthralling sculpture. It embodies perfectly smooth contours and shiny surfaces that dazzle the eyes. Even though the bulb is fastened into the upper portion of the Stalasso Pendant Lamp, its intense glow is reflected in the clear inverted apex. Soft yellow illumination is produced that creates a cozy atmosphere indoors. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.7/10 - Popularity: 70% | Activity: 63% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Sculptural Lighting:** Designing lighting fixtures that double as visually striking sculptures - **Transparent Surfaces:** Using materials that become transparent towards the bottom to create elegant lighting designs - **Reflected Light:** Incorporating reflective surfaces to amplify the intensity and warmth of light fixtures ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Opportunities for designers to create lighting as a statement piece or a focal point in middle of the room. - **Architecture:** Illuminators that merge sculpture and functional lighting can be incorporated into new builds or retrofit projects. - **Home Decor:** Designing ornate and visually appealing lighting fixtures as permanent fixtures in homes is a growing market. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Mesmerizing Glass Pendants](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-dew-pendant.md) - [Exquisite Textured Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pendant-lamp1.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Delicate Illusory Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aria-light.md) - [Eclipse-Inspired Whimsical Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-traveler.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md) - [Jewel-Inspired Chandelier Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pearl-chandelier.md) - [Maximalist Arched Pendant Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/oblure.md) - [Fishnet-Made Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-mycreation-droplet-lamp.md)
