# Paper Plane Graters Staileggero by Liviana Osti Makes Passing the Cheese a Breeze By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-06-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/staileggero-by-liviana-osti References: [cibicworkshop](http://www.cibicworkshop.com/?p=1760) Picture a lengthy dinner table and a meal that just begs for a [sprinkle of Parmesan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/granarolo-cheese-crisps) -- wouldn't you find that Staileggero by Liviana Osti comes in handy? The whimsical culinary utensil meets the criteria for a functional [formaggio shredder](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/home-series) in that it's a freestanding piece of perforated metal complete with different sized holes ideal for various thicknesses of cheese topping. What makes it a memorable object of design, however, is the way in which its form mimics that of a simple [paper airplane](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti). In theory, the creator's concept of an airborne implement topped with a morsel of mozzarella is absolutely scrumptious, but in practice I'm sure that this grater must remain grounded. Nevertheless, the lesson behind Cibicworkshop Staileggero by Liviana Osti is to think light -- especially when facing the decision about how much cheese to consume. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 12% | Activity: 28% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Functional Design:** Designing everyday objects to not only function well but also be visually appealing. - **Playful Utensils:** Creating kitchen utensils that add an element of playfulness to everyday tasks. - **Alternative Kitchen Tools:** Developing new kitchen tools that serve the same purpose but with a unique twist on their design. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Kitchenware Design:** Opportunities exist for designers to create unique kitchen tools that not only serve their purpose but also stand out for their design. - **Home Goods:** Home goods companies can explore adding playful and functional kitchen utensils to their product lines to appeal to design-conscious consumers. - **Food and Hospitality:** Restaurants and food brands can incorporate playful and unique utensils like the Staileggero grater into their presentation and branding to stand out and create a memorable experience for customers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Miniature Handheld Graters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/irogami-grater.md) - [Cheese-Shaped Charcuterie Boards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-cheese-block-with-knife.md) - [One-Touch Parmesan Graters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-cheese-grater.md) - [Multi-Functional Pasta Spoons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multifunctional-pasta-spoon.md) - [Mini Handheld Graters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/palm-grater.md) - [Imperfect Pasta Bowl Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasta-bowl.md) - [Stylish Kitchen Gadget Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/savor-series.md) - [Two-Sided Speed Graters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ograte.md) - [Pleated High-Fashion Appliances](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alessi-pliss-milk-frother.md)
