# Minimalist Techcessory Ledges Stage Interactive Shelf Inconspicuously Conceals Wires and Devices By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-01-10 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stage-interactive-shelf References: [leibal](http://leibal.com/furniture/stage/) & [spell-online](http://www.spell-online.com/en/product_stage_80.html) The [floating shelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life) is the symbol of clean and uncluttered modern design, so it's unexpected that the Stage Interactive Shelf should have so many hidden features. It appears to be a simple wooden beam that's been mounted to the wall, but it actually functions as drawer equipped with an electrical connection. You might not even notice the coated steel compartment hidden beneath the timber, which is actually not a solid block of American walnut. It's possible to pull the ledge away from the wall to reveal a secret cavity inside. Within this softly lined space, you can plug in up to five phone chargers and cables for other gadgets. The Spell Stage Interactive Shelf also acts as a [tablet dock](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-sleep-nightstand) with a fine channel cut across the back. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.5/10 - Popularity: 90% | Activity: 67% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Hidden-feature Technology:** Developing everyday products with concealed tech features to make them more efficient and functional - **Minimalist Design:** Creating sleek and uncluttered tech accessories that blend seamlessly with modern decor - **Multipurpose Furniture:** Designing furniture with hidden tech features, doubling functionality and saving space ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Incorporating hidden tech features into minimalist furniture designs to create more functional and appealing products - **Interior Design:** Advising customers on how to incorporate minimalist and multifunctional tech accessories into their home or office spaces - **Electronics Manufacturing:** Partnering with furniture manufacturers to create more inconspicuous charging stations that can blend in with a variety of interiors ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wood Desk Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-shelf-pro.md) - [Floating Monitor-Mounted Tech Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/line-linestand.md) - [Minimalist Modular Desk Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/console-desk.md) - [Outlet-Mounted Device Docks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tech-charger-dock.md) - [Progressive Colorful Desk Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lonhub.md) - [Furniture-Embedded Discreet Charging Stations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/discreet-charging-station.md) - [Minimalist Desktop Shelving Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balolo-setup-cockpit.md) - [Modular Desk Organizers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modulo-1.md) - [Discreet Folding Shelf Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-shelf.md)
