# Stupendously Stackable Illuminators The Stacking Lamp by William McDonald is Child-Like in Design By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2013-02-19 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stacking-lamp-by-william-mcdonald References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/52695/) & [willmcdonald](http://www.willmcdonald.ca/tagged/Stacking) The Stacking Lamp by William McDonald is crafted after [classic children's toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Woaw) like the stacking ring and other [interconnectable designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stak-modular-lamp). Able to have [additional illuminators added or subtracted](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi), the Stacking Lamp is vibrantly painted in a very traditional color scheme including burnt sienna and bright turqoise to add to the designs overall child-like appeal. Perhaps perfect for a nursery, child's bedroom or a reading nook, the Stacking Lamp by William McDonald puts an emphasis on what is and is not there; while a focus might be on the lamps that are in place one moment, you might find yourself noticing the lack thereof during another glance. Chaotic and tree-like, the Stacking Lamp by William McDonald is an effortlessly fluid adornment that will provide as much or as little light as necessary. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.3/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Stackable Lighting:** There is a disruptive innovation opportunity in creating stackable lighting options for customizable illumination. - **Child-like Design:** The trend of incorporating child-like designs in home decor presents an opportunity for innovation in creating playful and nostalgic products for consumers. - **Interconnectable Furniture:** Designing furniture with interconnectable elements opens up opportunities for creating versatile and customizable home furnishings. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting Industry:** The lighting industry can explore new product lines of stackable lamps to meet the demand for customizable lighting solutions. - **Home Decor Industry:** The home decor industry can capitalize on the trend of child-like design by creating a range of playful and whimsical products for consumers. - **Furniture Industry:** The furniture industry can innovate by incorporating interconnectable elements into their designs, offering customers flexibility and personalization. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stacked Illuminator Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/konnect-pendant-light.md) - [Sustainable Cylindrical Ceiling Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stackabl-lighting-collection.md) - [Artistic Magnetic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scacco-matto-lamp.md) - [Traditional Tower-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pagoda-lamp.md) - [Interconnecting Component Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/customizable-table-lamp.md) - [Modular Brick Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-light.md) - [3D-Printed Modular Lamp Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stak-modular-lamp.md) - [Infinitely Expandable Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table-lamp.md) - [Playful Brick-Born Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/analog-lamps-1.md)
