# Blank Country Homes The St. Joseph House is a Box With Mind-Bending Interiors By Amelia Roblin | Published 2011-01-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/st-joseph-house References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2011/01/25/single-family-house-st-joseph-by-wolfgang-tschapeller/) & [tschapeller](http://www.tschapeller.com/) Appearing quite boxy on the outside, the St. Joseph House is anything but that in its interior. Taking age-old advice to heart, Wolfgang Tschapeller Architekt literally [inverted the concept](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof) for this [single family home](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-house1), reinventing the inside of this rectangular shell of a dwelling. The abstract Austrian abode becomes quite the psychedelic experience within. Completely [whitewashed, the walls and ceilings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vaulted-monochrome-haus) seem to rebel against right angles, true horizontals and verticals at every bend. Leaving occupants with quite a twisted perception of space, the St. Joseph House is an essay on the insignificance of first impressions. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 79% | Activity: 62% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Psychedelic Interiors:** There is an opportunity for disruptive innovation in interior design by embracing unconventional and mind-bending design concepts that challenge traditional perceptions of space. - **Inverted Architecture:** There is potential for disruptive innovation in architecture by reimagining the traditional concept of a building shell, creating unexpected and unconventional spaces within. - **Rebellious Design Concepts:** There is a disruptive innovation opportunity in design by defying conventional angles and geometries, creating spaces that challenge perceptions and assumptions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** In the field of interior design, there is a potential for disruptive innovation by exploring unconventional design concepts and pushing the boundaries of traditional spaces. - **Architecture:** Within the architecture industry, there is an opportunity for disruptive innovation by reimagining the concept of building shells and creating unique and unconventional spaces within. - **Design Concepts:** There is a disruptive innovation opportunity in the design industry by embracing rebellious design concepts that challenge traditional assumptions and perceptions of space. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Staggered Floor Modern Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-of-seven-floors.md) - [Refined Modern Dwellings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silver-house.md) - [Chic Curved Houses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curved-house1.md) - [Compact Corner Residences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modus-architect.md) - [Sculptural Inverted Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/a-house-with-an-inverted-roof.md) - [Box-Like Innovative Apartment Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innovative-apartment-design.md) - [Geometric Cave-Like Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cavelike-homes.md) - [Compact White-Painted Modern Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whitepainted-modern-home.md) - [Barn-Form Family Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twisted-house1.md)
