# Atmosphere-Inspired Art SsD Architects' 'Cloud' is an Interactive Sound and Light Sculpture By Davina Sinnatamby | Published 2014-03-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ssd-architects References: [thecreatorsproject.vice](http://thecreatorsproject.vice.com/blog/cloud-turns-surveillance-data-into-art) & [ssdarchitecture](http://www.ssdarchitecture.com/works/cultural/cloud/) 'Cloud' is a [sound and light sculpture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miror-collection) created by SsD Architects. The piece reacts to weather and human motion. When the temperature drops, the LED geometry becomes orange and fire-like as it crackles like a fireplace. When it rains, the sculpture makes the same [sounds as water droplets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acoustic-sculpture-speaker) and creates blue patches of light. When people are near it, it will follow them and whisper to them with an eerie, human-like voice. The whispers tend to be environmentally focused with words such as stratosphere, cycles or compost. According to SsD, the whispering "invites the public to participate in what is now a public secret.'" The experience is never the same, as the [sounds and lights react differently](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/phenomena) based on the groups and individuals that observe it. This futuristic cloud brings us closer to nature and the atmosphere. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.2/10 - Popularity: 64% | Activity: 23% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Interactive Art:** The 'Cloud' sculpture showcases the potential for interactive art installations that can engage audiences through sensory experiences. - **Responsive Design:** The use of sensors and technology in the 'Cloud' sculpture highlights the trend of incorporating responsive design elements in artistic creations. - **Immersive Environments:** The 'Cloud' sculpture demonstrates the growing trend of creating immersive environments that blur the boundaries between art, technology, and nature. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** The 'Cloud' sculpture presents opportunities for artists and designers to explore innovative and interactive installations that push the boundaries of traditional art forms. - **Technology and Electronics:** The integration of LED lights, sensors, and sound technology in the 'Cloud' sculpture opens up possibilities for advancements in the technology and electronics industry. - **Environmental Sustainability:** The environmentally focused messaging in the 'Cloud' sculpture highlights the potential for the art industry to promote and raise awareness about sustainability initiatives. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interactive Mountain Oracles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/whispering-mountains.md) - [Unique Interactive Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-aurora.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Urban Soundscape Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moment-installation.md) - [Accessibility-Enhancing Public Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/isometric-studio.md) - [Acousto-Optic Smart Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-wireless-speaker-design.md) - [Immersive Climate Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remembering-the-future.md) - [Artful Garden Inflatable Spheres](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/this-is-air.md) - [Invigorating Speaker Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/audio-and-visual-device.md)
