# Stegosaurus Kitty Haircuts Squishfacekitens Reveals a Spiky Cat By Josh Triantafilou | Published 2012-05-14 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/squishfacekitens References: [obviouswinner](http://www.obviouswinner.com/) & [squishfacekitties.tumblr](http://squishfacekitties.tumblr.com/post/22621086301/my-cat-pieface-with-her-dinosaur-haircut-omg) The author of the curiously titled Tumblr blog, 'Squishfacekitens' recently posted a picture of a cat who's been shaved so as to resemble a stegosaurus. There are many [cat enthusiasts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uber-showcats) who might take issue with this admittedly unorthodox [feline hairdo](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pawswing-neo), but no one can argue that it's boring. The perfectly pyramidal spikes that adorn the kitty's back look like they could easily poke one's eye out. Judging by the look on the cat's face, it seems it wouldn't mind doing just that to its stylist. Still, whatever one's ethical concerns, one needs to appreciate the handiwork behind this creation. It's hard enough trying to bathe a cat or dog, let alone shaving most of its fur off so that it looks like something one would see on the Discovery Channel. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 43% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Humor](https://www.trendhunter.com/humor) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Unconventional Pet Styling:** As pet owners continue to seek innovative ways of styling their pets, grooming salons and pet stores can capitalize on this trend by offering new and unique styling options for pets. - **Viral Social Media Pets:** Social media influencers and pet stores can take advantage of the increasing popularity of animal videos and photos online by selling pet accessories and grooming services specifically designed for sharing on social media. - **Pet Grooming Consumer Ethics:** As consumers become more aware of animal welfare, pet grooming salons and stores can differentiate themselves by promoting ethical pet handling policies and cruelty-free grooming products. ### Where This Applies - **Pet Grooming Industry:** Pet grooming salons and stores can adapt their services to incorporate unconventional pet styling trends and products to stand out in a competitive market. - **Social Media Marketing Industry:** Marketing agencies can create targeted advertising campaigns related to the viral trend of social media pets, capitalizing on the huge online following of popular animal accounts. - **Animal Welfare Industry:** Organizations and companies committed to animal welfare can work with pet grooming salons and stores to promote cruelty-free grooming services and products that consumers can feel good about using for their pets. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Smart Cat Shelters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pawswing-neo.md) - [Feline-Friendly Drying Towers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dmuse-cat-tower.md) - [Smart Cat Grooming Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cat-grooming-pod.md) - [Minimal Cat-Care Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mew-cat-care-set.md) - [Autonomous Cat-Grooming Structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pawswing-purrring.md) - [AI-Powered Cat Analyzers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pharaohs-lost-cat.md) - [Overlapping Wooden Cat Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/two-circles-cat-scratcher.md) - [Cat Tree Furniture Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slash-cat-tree.md) - [Eclectic Cat-Specific Stores](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triple-t-studios.md)
