# Winding Watery Walkways Square & Round by Turenscape Focuses on Chinese Gardening Philosophy By Meghan Young | Published 2013-11-29 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/square-round-by-turenscape References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2013/11/29/square-round-by-turenscape/) & [turenscape](http://www.turenscape.com/) Square & Round by Turenscape, a Chinese landscape architecture firm founded by doctor and professor Kongjian Yu, is a garden installation that provides a nice reflective path. The winding walkway, which acts as a sort of bridge over a shallow pond, is in line with the studio's previous designs [Bridge Gardens](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bridge-gardens-by-turenscape) and [Red Ribbon Park](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/unique-garden). Each of them follow a squiggly line that adds a dynamic touch to all outdoor settings. Not to mention the prevalence of the color red. In this case, the red accent in Square & Round by Turenscape manifests through the use of long sticks that act like a screen or manmade reeds. Located at the [Château Chaumont](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chteau-la-banquire) in France, it introduces the Chinese gardening philosophy about man and nature. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 51% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Reflective Garden Installations:** Creating garden installations that feature reflective walkways can provide a dynamic touch and introduce new philosophies in gardening - **Squiggly Line Designs:** Using squiggly lines in outdoor settings can add a unique and eye-catching element to landscape architecture - **Incorporating Cultural Philosophy:** Introducing cultural philosophies in garden designs can provide a new and interesting perspective on the relationship between man and nature ### Where This Applies - **Landscape Architecture:** Landscape architecture firms can explore creating garden installations that feature reflective walkways and squiggly line designs to create unique environments - **Gardening and Horticulture:** Gardening and horticulture enthusiasts can incorporate cultural philosophy in their garden designs for an interesting and educational experience - **Tourism and Hospitality:** Tourism and hospitality industries can incorporate reflective garden installations in their properties to offer a unique and eye-catching attraction ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tranquil Round Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-round-pavilion.md) - [Traditional Garden-Inspired Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shanfeng-academy.md) - [Abstract Colorfully Vibrant Playscapes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wired-scape.md) - [Mountain-Based Curved Viewpoints](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yunhai-forest-service-station.md) - [Landscape Viewing Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-loop-with-views.md) - [Nature-Inspired Artful Garden Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henderson-art-garden.md) - [Landscape-Concealed Cultural Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chaohu-natural-and-cultural-centre.md) - [Circular Garden Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-o.md) - [Spirally Viewpoint Bridge Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/g-clef-bridge.md)
