# Mathematic Tables ‘Square Root' from Josh Tuminella Unites Math and Decor By Andrew Robichaud | Published 2009-09-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/square-root References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2009/09/21/just-a-fraction-of-a-table/) & [behance.net](http://www.behance.net/Toomi) We’ve all been through the standard elementary school math that, for some, was torturous. It’s always interesting to see a [design that takes a common symbol](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/collection-co) and uses it for creativity. [Square Root](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stainless-steel-furniture-set) is a [chic little table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) designed by Josh Tuminella that plays on the recognizable signal of (got it yet?) a square root symbol. The table is built using less than 10 piece and actually handles bumps and bruises quite well (they add character). The Square Root table design is the type of idea that is sure to grab attention. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.8/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Symbol-inspired Design:** Opportunity for incorporating recognizable symbols into product design to create visually appealing and attention-grabbing items. - **Minimalist Furniture:** Growing demand for simple yet stylish furniture pieces that use fewer materials and maintain functionality. - **Sustainable Design:** Rising interest in eco-friendly and durable products that can handle wear and tear while adding character. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** Potential for incorporating symbol-inspired designs into furniture, lighting, and decorative items for the home. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity to create minimalist furniture pieces that are easy to produce, transport, and assemble. - **Sustainable Product Design:** Growing market for sustainable materials and production methods that result in durable and environmentally friendly products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Geometric Table Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solis-collection.md) - [Elegant Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-table.md) - [Intersecting Two-Part Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shaolin-side-table.md) - [Slender Geometric Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tong-side-table.md) - [Dynamic Sculptural Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table.md) - [Sophisticated Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table.md) - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Dynamic Strong Coffee Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table.md) - [Perplexingly Angular Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tadashi-side-table.md)
