Artist Dave Trautrimas is known for re-inventing household items into [post-apocalyptic structures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/future-perfect), and the Spyfrost project follows the same unique path. Trautrimas takes [mundane-looking items from around the house](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-craftmanship-a-new-world), whether [wash basins, refrigerators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fridgescaping-guide) or stove elements, and transforms them into these spectacular alien-like buildings that are meant to be reminiscent of the post Cold War era.

The Spyfrost project is meant to elicit a certain paradox between these machines' place in our society and the time period they came from. Many of these appliances were introduced after World War II and thought to act as catalysts for peace. Here, those very tools are being used for a destructive purpose. If you enjoy Trautrimas's work and happen to be in Toronto, his collection will be featured at the LE Gallery the week of April 26.
