# Flatpack Spotlight Lamps The 'Shift' Lamp Takes Up Ample Space Yet Compacts Down in Size By Michael Hemsworth | Published 2016-06-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotlight-lamps References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2016/06/09/flat-pack-never-looked-so-pretty/) Traditional spotlight lamps are relatively structured in design which inhibits them from being used in many locations, but the 'Shift' lamp is designed with a [flatpack aesthetic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp) in mind to help combat this. Designed by Ruder Novak-Mikulic and Marija Ruzic, the 'Shift' lamp features a large spotlight lamp that is suspended on three sticks that are bound together. This forms a tripod base that is rather expansive at first glance yet compacts down into a few simple pieces at a moment's notice. The 'Shift' spotlight lamps feature a [perforated metal sheeting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape) for the lamp section that has been wrapped in leather to help add a level of texture to the design. The 'Shift' lamp is available in [three different sizes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/takeout-lamp) with a number of different wood finishes and colors to boot. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 41% | Activity: 12% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Flexible Design Lamps:** Opportunity for innovators to create lamps with collapsible or adjustable features to maximize portability. - **Textured Lighting Fixtures:** Potential for designers to incorporate unique materials or textures into lighting fixtures for a more visually appealing aesthetic. - **Modular Tripod Bases:** Innovation possibilities in creating tripod bases that can be disassembled and reassembled easily for improved storage and transportation. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** A chance for furniture manufacturers to develop collapsible lighting products that can be easily shipped and assembled by customers. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to utilize lighting fixtures with unique textures and materials to enhance the overall look and feel of a space. - **Home Decor Retail:** Potential for home decor retailers to offer modular tripod-based lighting fixtures that cater to customers in need of versatile and portable lighting solutions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Folded Timber Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flatpack-timber-lamp.md) - [Compact Geometric Portable Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pivot-lamp.md) - [Flat-Pack Paper Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tsubomi.md) - [Flatpack Lighting Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/allen-key-lamp.md) - [Space-Saving Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spacesaving-desk-lamp.md) - [Customizable Industrial Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pi-modular-lamp.md) - [Illusory Multidimensional Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drop-light.md) - [Ultra-Flexible Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/anywhereuse-lamp.md) - [Portable Cubic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/romb-mini-lamp.md)
