The feature can be used to record memories associated with a song, credit the person who introduced an artist or add contextual messages when [sharing playlists with others](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spotify-group-messaging). Notes are accessed through the three-dot menu beside a track by selecting the "Add note" option and are available to eligible users on both free and Premium plans. The feature is currently available to Spotify listeners aged 16 and older in select markets. Any notes added to a playlist are visible to anyone who has access to view that playlist, making privacy settings an important consideration before sharing. By enabling written annotations alongside [curated music collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hyperpersonalized-playlists-spotify-is-using-advanced-ai-to-create-a-connec), the update introduces a way to personalize playlists with text while preserving the existing listening and sharing experience across the streaming platform.
