# Convenient Folding Scoopers The SpoonSpreader by FusionBrands is Perfect for PB&J Sandwiches By Meghan Young | Published 2012-08-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spoonspreader-by-fusionbrands References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1670590/the-ultimate-tool-for-pbj-sammiches-a-hinged-spoon) & [fusionbrands](http://www.fusionbrands.com/collections/products/products/spoonspreader) Getting anything out of a jar can be pretty messy unless more than one utensil is used or a person simply dumps the contents out at once, but the SpoonSpreader by FusionBrands hopes to change that. It is essentially a folding spoon that allows people to scoop out the exact portion they want and then spread it without reaching for a knife. While particularly great for [peanut butter and jelly sandwiches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/favewich-sb-grape), the SpoonSpreader by FusionBrands can be used for icing, [cream cheese](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/all-things-butter-spreadable) and more. A simple creation, the SpoonSpreader by FusionBrands nevertheless offers a fantastic tweak on a [common piece of cutlery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lollo). The fold has been dubbed a 'Living Hinge' by the designers, and is made out of a plastic that can be folded and refolded without snapping. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.1/10 - Popularity: 23% | Activity: 1% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Convenient Folding Utensils:** The innovation of folding utensils allows for easier scooping and spreading of food products. - **Mess-free Food Spreading:** The SpoonSpreader by FusionBrands offers a solution to the messy task of spreading food from jars, introducing a more efficient and controlled method. - **Versatile Food Scooping Tools:** The SpoonSpreader by FusionBrands demonstrates the potential for multifunctional utensils that can be used for a variety of food items. ### Who This Affects Most - **Kitchen Utensils:** The folding spoon innovation presents an opportunity for companies in the kitchen utensils industry to develop similar convenient and versatile products. - **Food Packaging:** The SpoonSpreader by FusionBrands addresses the issue of messy spreading, inspiring food packaging companies to create more user-friendly and spill-proof designs. - **Snack Food:** The SpoonSpreader's focus on peanut butter and jelly sandwiches opens up possibilities for snack food companies to explore innovative and convenient packaging solutions for their products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Ice Cream Sandwich Scoops](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ice-cream-sandwich-scoop.md) - [Convenient Honey-Holding Utensils](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/al-malaky-royal.md) - [French Fry Spoons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spoon-friez.md) - [Interchangeable All-in-One Cutlery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinchy-cutlery.md) - [Wildflower Honey-Holding Spoons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/beemax.md) - [Spoon-Equipped Formula Lids](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chadwicks.md) - [PB&J-Inspired Sandwich Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pbj-inspired-sandwich-plates.md) - [Speculative Cutlery Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evolving-spoon.md) - [Reimagined Peanut Butter Jars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/one-trick-pony-2.md)
