# Bathroom Bookshelves The Split Sink from Emo Design Saves Space is a Bookshelf-Sink Hybrid By Michael Hines | Published 2011-03-30 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/split-sink References: [tuvie](http://www.tuvie.com/emo-split-sink-offers-a-smart-space-to-organize-your-body-care-essentials/) & [emo-design.it](http://www.emo-design.it/) The Split Sink is a brilliant new design from the depressingly named creatives at Emo Design that combines a [sink, table and shelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookmarker-table) all into one piece of furniture. Looks like there is about to be a lot more room to roam in the bathroom. The Split Sink has a rectangular sink/tabletop with a pullout compartment sitting atop a [wooden bookshelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life). The whole design looks incredibly clean and natural as opposed to the forced and awkward pieces of combo-furniture that have appeared in the past. It seems like most designers today are trying to go high-tech when it comes to designing [home appliances and furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/expand-furniture). It's nice to see designers focused on innovation and creativity rather than app and Bluetooth compatibility. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 27% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Combo-furniture Design:** Creating multifunctional furniture pieces that combine different functionalities in a seamless and aesthetically pleasing way. - **Natural and Minimalist Design:** Emphasizing clean and natural aesthetics in furniture design, moving away from forced and awkward combo-furniture designs. - **Innovative Home Appliances:** Designing home appliances with a focus on innovation, creativity, and functionality, rather than relying solely on tech features. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Opportunity for furniture designers to explore and create innovative multifunctional furniture pieces that optimize space and enhance user experience. - **Interior Design:** Integrating natural and minimalist furniture designs into interior spaces to create harmonious and functional environments. - **Appliance Manufacturing:** Manufacturers can develop and market home appliances that prioritize innovative features and creative designs, appealing to consumers seeking unique and functional products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Collaborative Seashell-Like Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spire-washbasin.md) - [Bookcase-Equipped Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/low-wall-side-table.md) - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Utility-Focused Bathroom Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/showdown-system.md) - [Small-Space-Friendly Bookcases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twoinone-billy-model.md) - [Storage-Packed Workstation Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-x-shelf-x-self-table.md) - [Slick Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slick-bathroom-sink.md) - [Illuminated Base Bathroom Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antoniolupi-albumelux.md)
