# Vibrant Minimalist Hangers The Splash Coat Rack Sports a Stylish and Simple Silhouette By Meghan Young | Published 2013-01-30 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/splash-coat-rack References: [uncrate](http://uncrate.com/stuff/splash-coat-rack/) & [bludot](http://www.bludot.com/splash-coat-rack.html) The Splash Coat Rack at once makes a statement while staying appropriately in the background. While the vibrant colors allows it to brighten up the dark corner it will most likely be thrust into, its simple silhouette blends in perfectly so as to not draw too much attention to its practical existence. Designed by Blu Dot, an American design studio founded by three college friends, the Splash Coat Rack is loosely inspired by a splash of water, hence its name. It is made out of powder-coated steel and walnut. Complete with four spires for hats, bags, scarfs and, of course, jackets, the Splash Coat Rack comes in five colors: bright blue, putty grey, complete yellow, humble red and basic white. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.9/10 - Popularity: 30% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Vibrant Minimalist Furniture:** Blending bright colors and simple silhouettes in furniture design. - **Multi-purpose Storage Solutions:** Incorporating versatile storage options in furniture design. - **Eco-friendly Material Innovation:** Exploring environmentally sustainable materials for furniture design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Furniture Design:** Blu Dot's Splash Coat Rack is an example of a design trend of combining bright, eye-catching colors and a minimalist design for furniture pieces. - **Home Organization:** Splash Coat Rack demonstrates an opportunity for home organization designers to incorporate versatile storage options and eco-friendly materials in their products. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can use minimalist furniture with vibrant colors to breathe life into spaces while ensuring the furniture doesn't stand-out too much. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sporty Climbing-Inspired Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grip-hanger.md) - [Chinese Character-Shaped Coat Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/resting-coat-rack.md) - [Geometrically Shaped Hanger Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/triangle-hanger.md) - [Modular Minimal Wardrobe Hangers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/koi-cloths.md) - [Playful Monkey-Inspired Coat Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monkey-coat-stand.md) - [Bright Whimsical Home Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blue-balcony.md) - [Wall-Mounted Wall Rack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velto.md) - [Stylish Multi-Use Entryway Racks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/entryway-shoe-rack.md) - [Artful Sculptural Umbrella Stands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inbetween-umbrella.md)
