# Sculptural Spiral Sinks This Swirling Washbasin Assumes the Organic Shape of a Conch Shell By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-02-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiral-sink References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2015/02/18/one-serpentine-sink/) & [competition.adesignaward](https://competition.adesignaward.com/designer.php?profile=121141) The vast majority of [freestanding bathroom basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archiplan-compact-basin-collection) take a very similar form, so it's a surprise to see a design like that of the Spiral sink. Dreamed up by Taher Nasiri and Naser Nasiri, this abstract fixture certainly deserved its title as a winner of an A’Design Award. Rising from the floor, this plumbing unit conceals all of the drains, pipes and valves in its base, whereby the input and the output water both pass. The [coiled seashell shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/barnacle-wall-sconce) of the Spiral sink begins narrow at the bottom and gradually broadens into a generous pearly basin. What really completes the fantastical form of the fixture is the way the [faucet curls out](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/faro-mixer) from the iridescent blue carapace. Symbolically, this washbasin represents the mythical serpents that would guard treasure and bring good health. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.9/10 - Popularity: 89% | Activity: 79% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Organic Bathroom Fixtures:** Designers and manufacturers can create unique and abstract bathroom fixtures inspired by natural shapes and forms. - **Concealed Plumbing Designs:** There's an opportunity to innovate plumbing systems that can conceal all of the pipes, valves, and drains in a fixture's base. - **Symbolic Bathroom Accessories:** Designers can incorporate symbolism and mythology into their bathroom accessory designs, offering consumers a unique and personalized experience. ### Where This Applies - **Bathroom Fixtures:** Companies in the bathroom fixtures industry can differentiate their offerings by designing unique and abstract fixtures that incorporate natural shapes and forms. - **Plumbing:** Manufacturers in the plumbing industry can explore new ways to create concealed plumbing systems that offer both functional and aesthetic value to consumers. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can develop and market symbolic and playful bathroom accessories to consumers who want to express their personality and style through these items. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Angular Ceramic Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/angle-washbasin.md) - [Textural Bathroom Sink Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/washbasin-collection.md) - [Dynamic Marble Sink Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinito.md) - [Playful Concrete Wash Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kast-wave-collection.md) - [Ultra-Modern Freestanding Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freestanding-sink.md) - [Marble Slab Washbasins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/piano-washbasin.md) - [Water Flow-Inspired Kiln Sinks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volta-collection.md) - [Artful Artisanal Marble Basins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handchiseled-marble-basin.md) - [Sophisticated High-Design Bath Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soaking-tub.md)
