The 'Spiral Garden' house has been designed by Ryuichi Ashizawa [Architects & Associates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/house-in-saidera) on Awaji Island in Japan as an unlikely dwelling that takes the natural landscape into consideration in more ways than one. The home is made using locally sourced timber and soil, and features a design that [spirals upwards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pasona-natureverse-pavilion) with a [roof covered in greenery](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-house-1). This works to reduce energy costs by capturing rainwater that is then used to cool the home in the summer months for a more eco-friendly design.

The 'Spiral Garden' house is finished on the interior with flooring in the traditional Tataki technique that combines earth limestone and water that are combined until solidified for an eco yet ultra-durable finish.
