Looking like any other black mug, but decked out in sharply designed [spikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chet-lo), this [ceramic piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-of-tangible-spaces) stands out in a big way. Far more edgy than traditional pottery, the 'Spiky Mug' is bound to get all of the right kind of attention and is fashion-forward in a way that is atypical of this type of product. Each of these pieces are made to order by Scott and Angi, the owners of the online shop, and are priced at $20 each. Although the mugs are available in a slew of colors, something about the black hue highlights the avant-garde nature of the product. Appealing to those looking to add some style to their morning coffee, this mug is making a splash in the world of ceramics. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Edgy Ceramic Design:** The 'Spiky Mug' is an example of an edgy and striking design trend in the ceramics industry. - **Fashion-forward Pottery:** The avant-garde nature of the 'Spiky Mug' represents a trend towards fashion-forward pottery designs. - **Custom-made Ceramics:** The made-to-order nature of the 'Spiky Mug' taps into the trend of personalized and unique ceramic products. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Ceramics:** The 'Spiky Mug' demonstrates the disruptive innovation potential in the ceramics industry for unique and edgy designs. - **Personalized Gifts:** The custom-made aspect of the 'Spiky Mug' presents a disruptive innovation opportunity in the personalized gifts industry. - **Home Decor:** The fashion-forward and striking design of the 'Spiky Mug' showcases the disruptive innovation potential in the home decor industry for unique and eye-catching products. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dinosaur-Shaped Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kawaii-ceramic-dinosaur-mug.md) - [Bell-Shaped Coffee Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mario-mug.md) - [Handle-Free Coffee Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pinch-hold.md) - [Algorithmic Ceramic Cups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/texture-ware.md) - [Landmark-Inspired Glass Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starbucks-mount-fuji-glass-mug.md) - [Adorable Ceramic Homeware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceramic-homeware1.md) - [Hidden Cat Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cute-cat-coffee-cup.md) - [Curvaceously Ergonomic Tumblers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/porcelain-tumbler.md) - [Festive Tree-Inspired Mugs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christmas-tree-mugs.md)
