The designer's dynamic seater is made from numerous [wood rod elements](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loopy-chair) that are joined in a marriage of both aesthetics and comfort. Reminiscent of cigarettes, Lervik's cylindrical rod elements are painted beige and white as they stand to form this [modern furniture piece](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sitter-chair). Taking inspiration from falling rain, the designer recreates the slanted strokes of water hitting the ground and presents furniture buffs with his bold vision of the 'Spike Chair'. Though [sculptural and visually intriguing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atypical-chair), this chair never loses its sense of purpose and features a practical design that is meant to be durable, safe and comfortable for its users. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Sculptural Seating Designs:** Opportunities for designers to push the boundaries with unique and visually intriguing furniture pieces that remain practical and safe for users. - **Inspiration From Everyday Objects:** Designers drawing inspiration from ordinary objects such as cigarettes and rain, to create unique and surprising furniture pieces. - **Combining Aesthetics and Functionality:** Increased interest in furniture designs that are not only visually appealing but also safe, durable, and comfortable for users, while showcasing unique aesthetics. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers working on creating unique designs by combining aesthetics, safety, durability, and comfort for users. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies featuring unique and visually interesting furniture designs that can add value and personality to any living space. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers working with clients to incorporate unique and visually intriguing furniture designs that align with their brand and style preferences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modernist Ski-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tip-chair.md) - [Shapeshifting Spine-Like Work Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spine-chair.md) - [Skeletally Inspired Lounge Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chaise-espinhal.md) - [Supportive Lightning Bolt Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lightning-chair.md) - [Ceiba Tree-Inspired Spiked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceiba-series.md) - [Sprouting Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wood-chair-on-grass.md) - [Espresso Maker-Inspired Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moka-chair.md) - [Snack Chip-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chipp-rocking-chair.md) - [Structurally Complex Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-arch-chair.md)
