# Sphere-Shielded Desks The Sphere Table Allows You to Protect Your Personal Space By Gil Cohen | Published 2013-01-27 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sphere-table References: [frameweb](http://www.frameweb.com/news/sphere-table-by-hella-jongerius) & [jongeriuslab](http://www.jongeriuslab.com/) When the world around you is getting a bit hectic, the Sphere Table, designed by Hella Jongerius for [Vitra](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vitra-x-snhetta), allows you to escape it all with your own [personal bubble](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kabin). A basic wooden desk with a single drawer, this table was not intended to stand out and cause a scene. The attached silver dome, however, is a striking component that adds a [sculptural element](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arnardo-desk) to the design. It doesn't encapsulate the entire working space, allowing the user to be free to socialize and interact with others, yet it provides enough privacy that the user can use it as a barrier to separate themselves as well. The Sphere Table is a useful desk for those trying to avoid distractions and those wishing to protect their privacy. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.5/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 20% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Personal Bubble Furniture:** Designing furniture that creates personal bubbles offers a disruptive innovation opportunity for enhancing privacy and focus in various settings. - **Incorporating Sculptural Design Elements:** Incorporating striking sculptural elements into functional furniture designs presents a disruptive innovation opportunity for adding aesthetic appeal and uniqueness. - **Balancing Privacy and Social Interaction:** Developing furniture that balances privacy and social interaction provides a disruptive innovation opportunity for creating versatile and adaptable work environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by focusing on creating furniture that enhances personal privacy and focus. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating striking sculptural design elements into interior design offers a disruptive innovation opportunity for creating visually captivating and functional spaces. - **Workspace Solutions:** The workspace solutions industry can tap into disruptive innovation opportunities by developing furniture that strikes a balance between privacy and social interaction. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sound-Absorbing Cozy Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buddyhub.md) - [Personal Cubicle Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ma-camilla-isabel-reyes.md) - [Quirky Solo Office Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/work-capsules.md) - [Acoustic Workstation Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canopy-desk.md) - [Cocoon-Like Workstation Hoods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/privacy-hood.md) - [Knick-Knack Storage Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spiky-desk-concept.md) - [Wellbeing-Harnessing Fan-Like Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shanti-chair.md) - [Relaxed Anti-Distraction Seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fortune-chair.md) - [Minimalist Storage-Friendly Desks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-desk.md)
