# Quirky Drawstring Dressers The Spaziale Series Commode is Fabric-Clad and Accessed Like a Sack By Amelia Roblin | Published 2012-06-21 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spaziale-series-commode References: [lanzavecchia-wai](http://lanzavecchia-wai.com/projects/spaziale-series-commode/) Lanzavecchia + Wai's rethinking of the [conventional sideboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tacito-sideboard) in the form of the Spaziale Series Commode is incredibly refreshing. Unlike 99% of [armoires and dressers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/apt-drawers), this piece's rigidity is only along its edges. Just to be different it sports a soft coat of fabric to conceal the items inside. No [cabinet doors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obelisk-3) and no drawers can be found around the eccentric object, instead, one large opening on one end is a loose cloth passageway. It may remain tied closed like a sack or spread open for a peek within. Other than this means of entry, the user is encouraged to cut his own holes and slits in the stretched material of the Spaziale Series Commode to act as additional points of access. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 15% | Activity: 45% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Fabric-clad Furniture:** The trend of fabric-clad furniture presents opportunities for innovative designs that challenge traditional notions of rigidity and concealment. - **Alternative Storage Solutions:** The trend of alternative storage solutions opens up possibilities for unconventional designs like the Spaziale Series Commode that eschew cabinet doors and drawers. - **Interactive Furniture:** The trend of interactive furniture encourages users to actively engage with the design by cutting their own holes and slits, promoting customization and personalization. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** The furniture design industry can explore disruptive innovation opportunities by incorporating fabric-clad elements and alternative storage solutions in their products. - **Interior Design:** In the interior design industry, there is scope for disruptive innovation by integrating interactive furniture designs that redefine traditional storage concepts. - **Home Goods Retail:** The home goods retail industry can tap into the trend of fabric-clad furniture and alternative storage solutions to offer unique and creative products that appeal to customers seeking unconventional designs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Tropical Island-Inspired Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weaver-cabinet.md) - [Anthropomorphic Design Dining Sets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sideboard-dining-table.md) - [Offset Shelf Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crazy-slice-sideboard-concept.md) - [Color-Centric Modular Drawers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floyd.md) - [Sandbox-Like Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet1.md) - [Twisted Wooden Boxed Sideboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/deniz-aktay.md) - [Stylish Oakwood Storage Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moose-cabinet.md) - [Curved Base Plywood Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-embrace-sideboard.md) - [Twisting CGI-Designed Sideboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookscrew-sideboard.md)
