The space startup company, ispace, was asked to participate in PROSPECT, which is a project spearheaded by the European Space Agency that will attempt to extract water from the moon. PROSPECT has set the southern pole of the moon as its destination, with a goal of beginning the project by 2024 or 2025.

PROSPECT stands for Package for Resource Observation and in-Situ Prospecting for Exploration, Commercial exploitation, and Transportation. The project's name describes in more detail what it will try to accomplish. The project will set out to look for any potential forms of lunar water or ice.

The space startup, ispace, will provide expertise to the project. Where the ispace members will help operate and interpret data from the program. In addition, ispace will be looking into in-situ resource finding.
