# Suspended Canine Exhibits The Space Pups Ulster Museum Installation Features Hanging Dogs By Jordy E | Published 2013-03-09 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-pups References: [mymodernmet](http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/space-pups-giant-inflatable-puppies) & [youngatart.ticketsolve](http://youngatart.ticketsolve.com/shows/873490637/events) The Ulster Museum Space Pups installation is currently on display within the Irish gallery. The suspended piece is a part of the Belfast Children's Festival, hence its fun-loving and funky motifs. Despite its many entertaining merits, Space Pups is actually representative of the heavier themes of birth, death and rebirth. This comes of its cyclical features as the hanging faux canines inflate and deflate on a loop. Curators at the Ulster Museum have described the exhibit as calming above all else, "...it seems as if this dream-like installation of enormous inflatable dogs is not only pretty cool to watch but offers the added bonus of instilling a sense of calm..." This word choice is interesting given its fast-paced interactive elements. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.6/10 - Popularity: 36% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Live Arts](https://www.trendhunter.com/livearts) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Inflatable Installations:** Opportunity for artists and designers to create immersive and interactive experiences using inflatable structures. - **Cyclical Art:** Artists can explore themes of birth, death, and rebirth through repetitive and cyclical installations. - **Interactive Exhibits:** Museum and gallery experiences can be enhanced by incorporating interactive elements that engage and calm visitors. ### Who This Affects Most - **Art and Design:** Artists and designers can utilize innovative inflatable structures to create unique exhibits and installations. - **Entertainment:** The entertainment industry can capitalize on the trend of interactive exhibits to provide engaging and calming experiences for audiences. - **Museums and Galleries:** Museums and galleries can embrace cyclical art installations to offer thought-provoking and calming experiences for visitors. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Immersive Balloon Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/balloon-story-popup.md) - [Folk Creature Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fibredog.md) - [Site Specific Mixed-Media Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dreamsphere.md) - [Inflated Design Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-as-a-main-material.md) - [Dog-Focused Retail Experiences](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/i-love-you-like-a-dog.md) - [Artful Meditative Sculptural Caves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawing-on-space.md) - [Hanging Portal-Like Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/duo-installation.md) - [Colorfully Inflatable Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blowup-art-the-hague.md) - [Petting Booth Pop-Ups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/petting-booth.md)
