# Real-Life Space Invasions 'Space Invaders in Real Life' Will Have You Grabbing Atari Controllers By Jason Soy | Published 2011-05-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-invaders-in-real-life References: [likecool](http://www.likecool.com/Space_Invaders_in_Real_Life--Video--Gear.html?) & [facebook](http://www.facebook.com/jeremiahjwarren) The unthinkable has happened and now we all have to grab our [Atari](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atari-x-nubeo-ventana-automatic-atari-asteroids) controllers and defend Earth, or at least that's the premise of this 'Space Invaders in Real Life' video. The popular, often ported, video game has been re-imagined with impressive graphics in this new parody video by Jeremiah Warren. An aspiring filmmaker, Warren also casted himself as the defender of Earth as he mans up, puts on his Aviators and grabs a [retro Atari controller](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atari-2600-my-play-smartwatch) to shoot down the fiendish [alien invasion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cosmic-chaos-2). Fans of Futurama will remember that a similar idea was done on the show, with the protagonist Fry utilizing his arcade gaming ability to conquer the alien threat, but this is truly the first time anyone has executed this idea with live actors and with such panache. A possible sequel to 'Space Invaders in Real Life' may be coming soon as the status of the mother ship remains unknown. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.4/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Real-life Video Game Parodies:** There is a growing trend of re-imagining popular video games in real-life scenarios, providing opportunities for filmmakers to create engaging content. - **Retro Gaming Nostalgia:** The creation of 'Space Invaders in Real Life' taps into the nostalgia for classic Atari games, presenting opportunities for game developers to create modern versions with impressive graphics. - **Immersion in Virtual Worlds:** The use of live actors and impressive graphics in 'Space Invaders in Real Life' demonstrates the growing trend of creating immersive experiences that blur the lines between virtual and real worlds, offering opportunities for virtual reality (VR) developers to take gaming experiences to the next level. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Film Industry:** The success of 'Space Invaders in Real Life' highlights the potential for filmmakers to tap into the trend of real-life video game parodies and create engaging content that resonates with audiences. - **Gaming Industry:** The popularity of 'Space Invaders in Real Life' showcases the market appeal for retro gaming nostalgia, presenting game developers with opportunities to create modern versions of classic games that combine nostalgia with cutting-edge graphics and gameplay. - **Virtual Reality (VR) Industry:** The immersive experience of 'Space Invaders in Real Life' points to the potential for VR developers to create virtual worlds that seamlessly blend with the real world, offering users a truly immersive gaming experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Retro Gaming Wearables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-invaders-my-play-watch.md) - [Comedic Alien-Invasion Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/high-on-life-2.md) - [Meta Mobile Gaming Consoles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nintendo-switch-small-invader.md) - [Retro Video Game Timepieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atari-x-nubeo-ventana-automatic-atari-asteroids.md) - [Anniversary-Celebrating Retro Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/atari-xp.md) - [High-Fidelity Space Voyages](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interstellar-arc.md) - [Pizza-Themed Arcade Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/slice-hunter.md) - [Space-Centric Metaverse Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lunar-horizons.md) - [VR Alien Horror Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/predator-hunting-grounds.md)
