# 8-Bit Multi-Tools The Space Intruders Multi-Tool is Perfect for Geeky Handymen By Michael Hines | Published 2011-03-21 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/space-intruders-multi-tool References: [technabob](http://technabob.com/blog/2011/03/17/space-intruder-multi-tool-space-invaders-keychain/) & [artsupplywarehouse](http://www.artsupplywarehouse.com/prodDetail.php?id=51941) Geeks now have a new item to add to their keyrings thank to Kikkerland and its Space Intruders Multi-Tool. The Space Intruders Multi-Tool bears a striking resemblance to the iconic aliens from Space Invaders and comes with three tools essential to any geek's existence. The arms of the Space Intruders Multi-Tool are actually flat-head and Phillip's-head screwdrivers. This Space Invaders-inspired multi-tool is perfect for last-second computer case mods or for gamers who need to open up a handheld or console and can't be troubled to walk all the way to the tool shed. The legs look useless enough at first, but they actually work as a bottle opener. I don't think I need to explain how useful a function that is. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 31% | Activity: 30% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/games) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Geeky Keyring Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop unique and functional multi-tools that appeal to geeky individuals and can be easily carried on keyrings. - **Gaming-inspired Tools:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create multi-tools with designs inspired by popular video games to cater to the gamer community's needs and preferences. - **Compact and Portable Tools:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Design compact and portable multi-tools that offer a variety of essential functions, making them convenient for quick and on-the-go repairs. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Hardware and Tools:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate elements from popular culture or specific interests into traditional hardware and tools to attract niche consumer segments. - **Gaming Accessories:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop gaming-related accessories that serve practical purposes beyond traditional gaming functions, appealing to both gamers and collectors. - **Keychain Gadgets:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create innovative and compact gadgets that can be easily attached to keyrings, providing functionality and convenience for everyday tasks. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Self-Referential Photographer Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/camera-multitool.md) - [Ultra-Versatile Multi-Tool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multitool-design.md) - [Keychain-Sized Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/k-smart-keychain.md) - [10-in-One Tracker-Friendly Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airtag-multitool.md) - [Pocket-Ready Multitool Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gerber-prybrid.md) - [Functional Swiss-Army Toy Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lego-multitool.md) - [All-in-One Screwdriver Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/screwdriverking.md) - [Micro-Sized Pocket Multitools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gerber-armbar-drive-multitool.md) - [10-in-1 EDC Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orioners-z3.md)
