The pounds of Citra and Mosaic hops contributed to a beer that is said to have "a firm bitterness and tropical notes of grapefruit, guava, and passionfruit," according to Samuel Adams. The Space Craft IPA got its name from fans, when the brand put out a call to come up with the right name for a beer of "cosmic proportions."
