Now however, a developer named Michael Lancaster who isn't connected to Souncloud in any way is cheekily introducing Soundnode, which is essentially a Soundcloud-like desktop app. This music app allows you to listen to songs from your playlists and [share them with others](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1beatclub). Since it's a desktop app, you can't upload tracks or add comments, but it's still a great way for you to listen to music. What's great about Soundnode is that it is [open source](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opennotas) so other people can tinker with it as well. It could turn out to be a great way to enable more people to enjoy music free of cost. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Open-source Music Apps:** The trend of open-source music apps presents an opportunity for developers to create innovative platforms that allow users to listen and share music freely. - **Desktop Music Apps:** The rise of desktop music apps like Soundnode opens up possibilities for creating new and improved listening experiences for users on their computers. - **Social Music Sharing:** The trend of social music sharing apps, like Soundnode, provides an opportunity to create platforms where users can easily discover and share music with others. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Music Streaming:** The music streaming industry can leverage open-source music apps to offer a wider variety of music options and enhance user experiences. - **Software Development:** The software development industry can tap into the trend of desktop music apps and open-source platforms to create innovative music applications for different devices. - **Social Networking:** The social networking industry can explore the trend of social music sharing apps to integrate music discovery and sharing features into their platforms, enhancing user engagement and entertainment experiences. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Music Mashups Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mashapp-music.md) - [Collaborative Music Queues](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/songup.md) - [Social Music Sharing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/favesfm.md) - [Open Source Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundtouch.md) - [Peer-To-Peer Music Streaming](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/streamdj.md) - [Cross-Platform Music Players](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimoon-music.md) - [Music Creation Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/discover-music.md) - [Hybrid Music Distribution Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundon.md) - [Remote Audio Controls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soundmixer.md)
